Service Director, Qualified Counsellor, Children's Therapist, School Counsellor, Trainer, and Guest Speaker

Hi, I'm Lisa, the Managing Director of both the Inner Peace Counselling Service and Children's Well-Being Institute.

I am a counsellor, therapist and trainer. I qualified back in 2008 and graduated from Harrow College with a Foundation Degree in Person Centered Counselling.

I also hold a Diploma in Person Centered Art Therapy Skills and have attended a vast range of training days and workshops over the years.

I relocated from London in 2011 and have been working in Hastings, as an affiliate counsellor for 2 Well Being Services. One specialist service for Adults who were Sexually & Physically Abused As Children, and I managed a Child and Adolescence Counselling Service, working within Schools and from a child therapy room based in the Old Town.

I am currently the School Counsellor at Little Acorns Therapeutic Unit - An SEMH School based in Tenterden - providing therapy for children who have Special Educational needs, those who are Neuro-Divergent and unable to engage in mainstream schools due to their complex needs.

I offer a wide range of interventions, including talking, play, arts, music, and trauma-informed therapies. Providing psycho-education, to help children gain coping tools and strategies for self regulation.

As the Service Director & Child Protection Lead, I am DBS Cleared with an enhanced CRB. I hold Professional Indemnity Insurance and am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) - adhering to the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice, including the new GDPR Regulations, and am registered with the ICO (Information Commissioners Office).

I have been counselling Children, Young People & Adults for over 18 years, in a number of different settings.

I am passionate about supporting children to turn their lives around, to gain self-control, to find their voice, so they can be heard - then they can work through their experiences and traumas.

When Young People find healthier ways of coping and gain tools to become robust and resilient, they can build on their courage, their self-esteem, confidence, and have a stronger sense of self & identity. This in turn enables them to become independent and know their worth.

Counselling can help prepare children & young people to embrace life, not be in fear of it or rebel against it. Therapy can help children to build stronger relationships within their families and with peers, socially and at school.

Counselling Saves Lives - I've seen it first hand. It's an Utter Privilege working with Children and their Families - a responsibility that I do not take lightly.

In addition to my counselling work, I have also worked as a Nursing Assistant on an Acute Mental Health Ward - based at the St Anne's Center in Hastings Hospital.
